What is Commissioning?

Building owners should regard commissioning as an essential service to be hired based on qualifications. Building construction involves many specialized trades that often work independently of one another ̶ this can result in ineffective communication between designers and contractors and produce facility systems with deficiencies and performance issues. Without verification of the correct interaction and operation of all systems and components, performance as specified and designed is unlikely to occur. Commissioning establishes a connection across disciplines, enhancing an overall facility from initial design requirements to post-occupancy review.

Our Quality Assurance Process

A systematic quality assurance process promotes a team-based approach. Commissioning Agents work directly with the design professionals, construction managers, subcontractors, manufacturers and equipment suppliers during all phases of design, construction and occupancy. The purpose of the commissioning process is to provide the owner/operator of the facility with assurance that the mechanical systems have been installed according to the contract documents, and operate within the performance guidelines set out in the Owner Project Requirements (OPR) and specifications.

Our Philosophy

C&W-TESCO’s philosophy on commissioning is to serve the owner’s best interest and provide an unbiased, objective view of the system’s installation, operation, and performance. Systems function at optimal levels, building staff are trained to operate and maintain those systems, and building owners decrease their equipment and usage cost while increasing energy efficiency. Our blend of technical and personal skills make our certified agents uniquely qualified to provide this service.

Leed Certification

The LEED certification system identifies and awards current best practices and provides an outline for buildings to use less energy, water and natural resources, improve the indoor environment, and uncover operating inefficiencies. C&W-TESCO has successfully applied for and been awarded LEED points associated with Fundamental Cx & Enhanced Cx activities on many projects for various owners. More
